Privacy Policy

Hustlrs is a free app for weekly step challenges with your friends. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, who can see it, and what your rights are. Hustlrs is based in the UK and we handle your data in line with UK GDPR.

Who we are

Hustlrs is the data controller for your personal data. You can reach us at hustlrsapp@gmail.com.

What we collect

• Account details: your email address and sign-in details. You can sign in with Apple, Google or email. If you use Apple or Google, we receive your email address from them (or Apple's private relay address if you choose to hide it).
• Profile: your display name, your @username and, if you add one, a profile photo. Profile photos are stored at a public web address so your friends can see them.
• Step counts from Apple Health: with your permission, we read your daily step count from Apple Health. We send one number per day (your total steps for that day) to our servers. We do not read any other health data.
• Motion & Fitness: while the app is open, we use your iPhone's motion data to show your live step count. This stays on your device and is not sent to us.
• Friends: the people you send friend requests to, accept, or hide.
• Hustles: the weekly challenges you create or accept, including the step target, the forfeit text, the result, and any forfeit proof photo you post.
• Notifications: a device token from Apple so we can send you push notifications.
• Hustlrs Pro: if you subscribe, whether your subscription is active and when it ends, so the app knows to unlock Pro. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card details.
• App usage: events like opening a screen or starting a Hustle, linked to your account ID. See PostHog below.
• Reports and feedback: if you report someone or send us a bug report or feature suggestion, we receive your message along with your username.

Apple Health data

We take your health data seriously. In short:

• We only read your daily step counts. Access is read-only and we never write anything to Apple Health.
• We use your steps only to run the app: your weekly totals, your Hustles, your weekly rank, your daily streak and your personal weekly challenge.
• We never use Apple Health data for advertising or marketing, and we never sell it.
• We never share Apple Health data with third parties, other than storing it with our hosting provider, Supabase, so the app can work.
• You can turn off Hustlrs' access at any time in the iPhone Settings app under Health, Data Access & Devices.

What we use your data for

• Running your account and signing you in.
• Showing your steps and weekly rank to your friends.
• Running Hustles: tracking steps against the target, working out the result, and showing forfeit photos to your opponent.
• Setting your personal weekly challenge from your own step history.
• Sending push notifications about challenges, results and friend requests. You can turn these off in Settings.
• Keeping Hustlrs safe: handling reports, blocks and misuse.
• Fixing bugs and improving the app, using the feedback you send us and app usage events (see PostHog below).

We do not sell your data and we do not show third-party adverts.

Our legal bases under UK GDPR are: performing our contract with you (running the app you signed up for), your explicit consent (for reading your step data from Apple Health, which you can withdraw at any time), and our legitimate interests (keeping the app safe and improving it).

Who can see what

• Anyone using Hustlrs can find you by your display name or @username and see your profile photo.
• Your friends can see your weekly step total, your weekly rank (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond or Hustlr), the number of Hustles you have done and, unless you hide them, your record (wins, draws and losses) and your Hustle scores.
• Your Hustle opponent can see your steps for that Hustle and any forfeit proof photo you post in it.
• You can hide your record and Hustle scores from others in the app. Your number of Hustles and your weekly rank still show.

Who we share it with

• Supabase, our hosting provider, stores our database, sign-in system and photos.
• Apple delivers push notifications through the Apple Push Notification service and handles Sign in with Apple.
• Google handles sign-in if you choose Sign in with Google.
• PostHog (hosted in the EU) gives us product analytics: which screens and features get used, so we know what to improve. Events are tied to your account ID only, never your name or email. We do not record your screen, and we never use it for advertising or to track you across other apps.
• Apple In-App Purchase: if you buy Hustlrs Pro, Apple handles the payment. We never see your card details.

We may also share data if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. When you do, we permanently delete your account, profile, step data and Hustle data, including any forfeit photos you posted. We may keep a small amount of data where the law requires it.

Children

You must be 16 or over to use Hustlrs. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you think a child under 16 is using Hustlrs, please email us and we will delete their account.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, and object to or restrict how we use it. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To use any of these rights, email us. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make important changes, we will let you know in the app.
